API terms of use

Version 1.1 — 20 October 2026. These terms supplement the general Terms and conditions of heilocal.ro and apply to every account with active API access.

This is an English translation provided for convenience. If it differs from the Romanian version, the Romanian version prevails.

1. Getting access

• API access is granted per account, directly from the account, in the "AI connection" section: any account with a verified email address can activate a plan (including the free Free plan) by accepting these terms. Activation is immediate, with no manual approval.
• Hei!Local may stop an account's access at any time, under the conditions in section 5.
• The API key is personal and non-transferable: do not publish it, share it or embed it in client code (mobile apps, public web pages) from which it can be extracted.
• You are responsible for all requests made with your key. If you suspect it has been compromised, regenerate or revoke it immediately from your account — the old key is invalidated at once.

2. Fair use

• Each plan has usage limits (credits per month and per day, requests per minute, results per request), shown in your account when you choose the plan. On top of the limits the fair use principle applies: a request volume comparable to a real application, not to a crawler.
• Circumventing the limits through multiple accounts, multiple keys, rotating IPs or any equivalent mechanism is not allowed.
• Automated requests must have a reasonable rate and backoff on rate-limit responses (429): retry with increasing delay, not in a tight loop.
• Cache locally the results you reuse — do not repeat the same request needlessly.

3. Restrictions

• Reselling, sublicensing or mass redistribution of data obtained through the API as a product competing with heilocal.ro (search engine, aggregator or commercialized dataset) is forbidden.
• Using the API for the systematic extraction of the whole index (bulk scraping) or to rebuild the Hei!Local database is forbidden.
• Using the API for illegal purposes, spam, disinformation or to impair the operation of the service is forbidden.
• Attribution is appreciated: if you publicly display results from the API, mention heilocal.ro as the source where reasonable.

4. Availability and changes

• The API is provided "as is", without guarantees of availability, accuracy or continuity. The response format and the limits may change; incompatible changes will be announced by email in advance when possible.
• The data in the index comes from public websites and may change or contain errors; check critical information (price, availability) at the source.

5. Suspension and termination

• Breaching these terms can lead to the limitation, suspension or revocation of API access, with or without prior notice, depending on the severity.
• You can give up access at any time by revoking the key in your account; the data about the plan and the key are kept for as long as the account exists.
